Students will take part in a swim assessment to gauge their swimming abili
ty for future water activities in 9LiFE – this is a requirement by the Dep
artment of Education and must be completed prior to any swimming activitie
s (such as surfing etc). This session will include access to the dive pool
for the swim tests and access to the diving boards afterwards.\n \n \n\n\nStudents will be meeting at the stadium at the beginning of P3 and will walk as a group to Aquanation. Stu dents will be dismissed from Aquanation at 2.30pm. Students are a sked to bring their bathers\, a towel\, water bottle\, snacks and lunch fo r the day. Students will have the opportunity to purchase food at the Aqua nation cafe if they wish. Classes have not been added onto Compass yet\, b ut it will compromise of the two 9Life OE classes. \n |

and a conservation activity in Point Leo. Students will put into practice
the skills they have learnt around taking care of the environment\, navig
ation\, preparing for an outdoor adventure in the water and taking part in
a recreational activity. Students will be travelling via bus and
will be meeting at Heathmont College at 7.45am and will be dismissed from
Heathmont College at 3.00pm. \n | \n
| \n\n Students will complete a series of tasks as they
walk through the local area. Starting at Heathmont College students will w
alk to HE Parker Reserve completing a series of tasks around the Dandenong
Creek Trail and then onto Heathmont Station\, also completing a series of
tasks en route. Students will then catch a train from Heathmont Station t
o Ringwood Station before completing a series of tasks in and around Ringw
ood (including Eastland).\n \nThis will support students in their understanding of the s kills required on these excursions for future trips into the city. These s kills include things like teamwork\, cooperative decision making\, use of Google maps\, safety in public areas and many others. Also\, students will learn about their local environment\, both man made and natural\, and inv estigate the culture of the area. | \n

Opportunity for students to
represent the school in a Chess tournament hosted at Heathmont College. As mandaded by VCAA\, Unit 1
Geography (topic: Hazards and Disasters) requires students to undertake f
ieldwork and write a fieldwork report as part of their School Assessed Cou
rsework. This is\, therefore\, a compulsory activity that all students enr
olled in Unit 1 Geography must undertake. Our class will be studying and collecting geographic data
about storms in urban areas. We will be conducting our fieldwork in Croydo
n around the Civic Precinct and urban streets around Croydon Town Precinct
to study the reason for flooding in that location\, at the flood mitigati
on works that have taken place\, and are planned to take place\, in that l
ocation. Students will mee
t out the front of Aquahub in Croydon (the indoor pool) at 9am. We will be
hearing from local experts from Maroondah City Council’s Emergency Manage
ment and Infrastructure Teams and also members of the Croydon Historical S
ociety and Croydon Conservation Society. The extent of the fieldwork site will include the Taralla Cr
eek from Dorset Road to Eastfield Road\, Fred Geale Oval\, Lusher Road and
Croydon Town Park (see map attached in the Resources section). Students w
ill be either with the whole class or working in small groups at all times
. We will also walk to Lacey Street near Croydon Memorial Pool. Students
will have time to eat\, or purchase lunch\, at Croydon Main Street or Croy
don Civic Square during the day. All students will have the school mobile
phone number to contact the teachers in charge\, if needed. Bathroom acces
s during the day will be at Croydon Library or Croydon Town Square on Main
Street. Students must bring with them the following items and must be in
full school uniform:

Elevate Education is a compa ny which provides workshops to students in VCE which are aimed to help the m succeed within their studies and achieve their goals. Elevates study ski lls workshops and seminars are designed to achieve behavioural change amon gst students. They believe it isn’t enough that students simply understand what they need to do in their study: the challenge in any study skills pr ogram is getting students to use and apply the skills they learn.
