The two stages of student progression are as follows : \nSTAGE ON E – empowers Neurodivergent students with the basic outcome of the I CAN p rogram: a positive neurodivergent identity. \nSTAGE TWO – develops Neurodivergent stud ents who are wanting to progress in the program and achieve outcomes aroun d leadership and self-advocacy. Students are given opportunities to run ac tivities during the session to help foster self-belief and empowerment. | \n

will attend a one-hour session each from Week 3 until the end of term (8 s

Students will take part in a swim assessment to gauge their swimming abili
ty for future water activities in 9LiFE – this is a requirement by the Dep
artment of Education and must be completed prior to any swimming activitie
s (such as surfing etc). This session will include access to the dive pool
for the swim tests and access to the diving boards afterwards.\n \n \n\n\nStudents will be meeting at the stadium at the beginning of P3 and will walk as a group to Aquanation. Stu dents will be dismissed from Aquanation at 2.30pm. Students are a sked to bring their bathers\, a towel\, water bottle\, snacks and lunch fo r the day. Students will have the opportunity to purchase food at the Aqua nation cafe if they wish. Classes have not been added onto Compass yet\, b ut it will compromise of the two 9Life OE classes. \n |
| \n\n Students will take part in a sea kayaking session
and a conservation activity in Point Leo. Students will put into practice
the skills they have learnt around taking care of the environment\, navig
ation\, preparing for an outdoor adventure in the water and taking part in
a recreational activity. Students will be travelling via bus and
will be meeting at Heathmont College at 7.45am and will be dismissed from
Heathmont College at 3.00pm. \n | \n
| \n\n Students will complete a series of tasks as they
walk through the local area. Starting at Heathmont College students will w
alk to HE Parker Reserve completing a series of tasks around the Dandenong
Creek Trail and then onto Heathmont Station\, also completing a series of
tasks en route. Students will then catch a train from Heathmont Station t
o Ringwood Station before completing a series of tasks in and around Ringw
ood (including Eastland).\n \nThis will support students in their understanding of the s kills required on these excursions for future trips into the city. These s kills include things like teamwork\, cooperative decision making\, use of Google maps\, safety in public areas and many others. Also\, students will learn about their local environment\, both man made and natural\, and inv estigate the culture of the area. | \n|||
| \n\n Students will spend this excursion in small groups c
ompleting a series of tasks. Students will have structured independence aw
ay from staff. Staff will walk the route as well and will be contactable t
hroughout the excursion. Students will meet staff at regular check points

Opportunity for students to
represent the school in a Chess tournament hosted at Heathmont College. As mandaded by VCAA\, Unit 1
Geography (topic: Hazards and Disasters) requires students to undertake f
ieldwork and write a fieldwork report as part of their School Assessed Cou
rsework. This is\, therefore\, a compulsory activity that all students enr
olled in Unit 1 Geography must undertake. Our class will be studying and collecting geographic data
about storms in urban areas. We will be conducting our fieldwork in Croydo
n around the Civic Precinct and urban streets around Croydon Town Precinct
to study the reason for flooding in that location\, at the flood mitigati
on works that have taken place\, and are planned to take place\, in that l
ocation. Students will mee
t out the front of Aquahub in Croydon (the indoor pool) at 9am. We will be
hearing from local experts from Maroondah City Council’s Emergency Manage
ment and Infrastructure Teams and also members of the Croydon Historical S
ociety and Croydon Conservation Society. The extent of the fieldwork site will include the Taralla Cr
eek from Dorset Road to Eastfield Road\, Fred Geale Oval\, Lusher Road and
Croydon Town Park (see map attached in the Resources section). Students w
ill be either with the whole class or working in small groups at all times
. We will also walk to Lacey Street near Croydon Memorial Pool. Students
will have time to eat\, or purchase lunch\, at Croydon Main Street or Croy

iety. The group is designed to get students to explore the concept of anx
iety\, why we have it\, what it is good for and how to manage it when it b
ecomes overwhelming. The group will be facilitated by Yvette Larubina and
Shirley Sun and will be held in the Wellbeing Space once a week for six w
eeks. There will be a max of eight students and will run for one period.

he Dandenong Ranges National Park. Students and staff will be taking part
in a day hike\, and will then have lunch in Olinda. The day will encompass
learning about the local flora and fauna\, as well as navigation and lead
ing a group. \n \nStudents will be required at Heathmont College by 9am and will return for 3pm. Students are to wear school uniform but depending on weat her may wear additional items such as a fleece jumper or rain jacket to be better prepared in the elements. | \n

for young people aged 15-17. The program is built on a trauma-responsive

that empowers them to participate\, build skills\, and make informed choic

study Geography with their next topic being ‘Water in the World’. Through
out this unit students are studying how we use water\, issues of water sca
rcity and the importance of protecting water resources. Alongside this\, s
tudents are beginning to develop essential skills for Geography including
mapping\, field sketches and creating and interpreting data. These skills
are cross curricular and are essential to the Humanities\, Science and Mat
hematics curriculum. \n\nData collected during this fieldtrip will be utilised as part of their second Common Assessment Task (CAT) for Humanities. Students will meet their teacher at the Year 7 locker bay at the start o f Period 3 and then will walk to Dandenong Creek as a group. Students will use the walking track beside Dandenong Creek (Knox side) to HE Parker Res erve to collect their data. They should bring their lunch\, a drink bottle \, a hat and wear sunglasses and sunscreen. Umbrellas and raincoats will b e required if rain is forecast. Students will also need a pencil\, a pen a nd a clipboard. Students will then return to school for a 3pm dismissal\, as usual\, on the Maroondah side of the creek\, again walking along the pa th. Students must not enter the water or move outside of the immediate vic inity away from staff at any time. Students will eat lunch at HE Parker Re serve in Heathmont and taps and bathrooms will be available at the Heathmo nt Football Oval for students to use. provides free incursions to school students to inform them about the dange
rs of prejudice\, racism and discrimination. This program will align with
the Year 10 English lessons where the focus for the Term’s study has been
about the Holocaust. Students will participate in workshops over two hours

Elevate Education is a compa ny which provides workshops to students in VCE which are aimed to help the m succeed within their studies and achieve their goals. Elevates study ski lls workshops and seminars are designed to achieve behavioural change amon gst students. They believe it isn’t enough that students simply understand what they need to do in their study: the challenge in any study skills pr ogram is getting students to use and apply the skills they learn. Elevate gets students using the skills from its seminars and workshops by using an integrated process that works. Information about the ses sions and dates they will be running can be found below.

inesses\; why people start them\, service and trading businesses\, market
research\, operating costs\, break even analysis\, pricing strategies and
budgeting. In order to put the theory into practice they will run a market
day stall in groups of 2-3 students and sell a product. The intention is
to hold this outside of the canteen area during a lunchtime and students h
ave to provide a product/service. Leading up to this day\, students will a
pply their learning to plan for the supply of their products\, the pricing
strategies used and to undertake market research to find out what their p
eers/staff would want to buy. Market Day will also provide the basis for t
wo of their Common Assessment Tasks\; one task is to write up a business p
lan\, and the second task is to undertake a reflection which will include
the financial calculations. Students will only be able to take out the mon
ey they put in\, with all remaining profits being donated to a charity of
their choice. \n | \n
