Heathmont College is proud to announce that from February 27 – March 2 2017, we will partner with teachers from Indonesia as they take part in the Australia Awards program in Australia, funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The program supports over 130 Indonesian education professionals and future leaders visiting Australia to access and share high-quality professional development opportunities. The goal of the Australia Awards program is to build the Australian and Indonesian teachers’ use of knowledge, skills and attitudes to influence their professional field and communities.
‘This is a fantastic opportunity for the whole school community to develop understanding of Indonesian history, society and culture, and in turn, share our culture with the visitors. We hope to build a long-term relationship with our visiting friends.’ Prema Devathas, Head of Languages.
The program includes a four-day school-visit by 1-2 teachers to Heathmont College, where the Indonesian teachers will have the opportunity to be fully immersed in the Australian culture and observe local education practice first-hand. This experience will support teachers to build intercultural capability, share teaching practice and enhance the teaching of Indonesian language and culture in their own classrooms.
