Cars

At the beginning and end of the school day we have considerable traffic in the vicinity of the school which creates danger to students and inconvenience to our neighbours; this is particularly so in Waters Grove. There are parking and stopping restrictions around the school at different points. The Maroondah Council and neighbours in our community are becoming increasingly concerned about the number of people following unsafe practices. Parking on nature strips or across driveways is not permitted.

Our preferred solution, that would eliminate lots of congestion, is for all traffic to move anti-clockwise around the school and drop students off near our boundary fences in Hardy Crescent, Marlborough Road and Waters Grove. This would be a change of practice for many families but would create a far safer and harmonious situation. I request all families to consider this for 2009.

Speed Restriction
There is a maximum speed set around all perimeters and on the roads leading up to Heathmont College of 40kmh. This maximum speed is a 24 hour restriction.

No Stopping Zones
The areas along Waters Grove which have a No Stopping restriction, not connected with a time restriction, means that cars are not allowed to stop at any time. This would include the dropping off or collection of students. The south side of Waters Grove indicates that there is to be No Stopping between the following times: 1. 8.00am -  9.15am 2. 2.30pm  – 3.30pm This means that you cannot stop during these times.

No Parking Zones
Part of the northern side of Waters Grove indicates that there is to be No Parking between the following times: 1. 8.00am – 9.15am 2. 2.30pm – 3.30pm You are not allowed to leave your car unattended. You are not allowed to park for more than 2 mins. This is effectively a drop-off zone.

Bus Zone – no car parking
The Bus Zone at the front of the College is reserved for buses only. The purpose of these restrictions is to keep our students safe. Should you have any further questions please contact our Office on 9871 4888.

Buses

Heathmont College is readily accessible through the use of public transport. We endeavour to make travel as safe and efficient for our students as possible and place specific emphasis on ensuring that new students are fully aware of their options for getting to and from school.

In order to ensure that students are able to board specific buses to get home, we have a bus pass system where a student has the required bus listed on his/her ID card.  Below you will find a brief outline of buses, which provide opportunities for students to travel to Heathmont College.

Buses to the School Gate in the mornings

The 679 Invicta Bus travels from and to Chirnside Park via Montrose, Mt Evelyn, Lilydale and Ringwood station. The 665 Invicta Bus travels from and to Dandenong via Knox City & Rowville and Ringwood station. Ventura bus lines operate services in the Boronia / Ferntree Gully areas and may be contacted on 9764 2676 or www.venturabus.com.au.  They have several services, which will enable students to travel to Heathmont College although they do not directly travel to Waters Grove. Ventura (Croydon) bus lines have several services which take students to Heathmont station and may be contacted on 9723 3529 or www.venturabus.com.au The Web site address for Invicta Bus Lines is www.invictabus.com.au

Students are also able to catch buses from Heathmont station to Waters Grove.

Below you will find a brief outline of buses, which provide opportunities for students to travel home from Heathmont College. There are presently five Invicta buses and one Ventura bus, which collect Heathmont College students from Waters Grove.
