Our School

Our 2009 school year has begun with an enrollment of 923 students and 117 staff. As we continue to focus on school improvement in all areas, we are excited at our prospects this year.

Our three foci for 2009 are:

  • Building and sustaining positive and supportive relationships
  • Sharing responsibility for the learning culture
  • High expectations of effort and achievement

It is our goal for every student to establish behavioural and learning practices that enable them to maximise their level of success in 2009 and be proud of their achievements, peers and their school. We have reviewed our Leadership Structure to increase its breadth, and defined responsibilities and interrelationships. Particular attention has been drawn to Literacy & Numeracy, ICT innovation, Sport, Music, and Student Wellbeing. Our focus on English & Mathematics has resulted in additional teachers at Year 7, increased resource allocation to our developmental Reading program, the introduction of a Year 7 & 8 High Achievers Program, a newly developed innovative Year 9 Experiential Learning Program, and the introduction of Foundation VCAL at Year 10. In Student Wellbeing we have introduced or extended the services of an Attendance Officer, Youth Worker and Speech Therapist. We have also allocated additional Student Wellbeing funding for program development, delivery and support. We are endeavouring to sustain a classroom dynamic based on:

  • High expectations of one another – setting clear, attainable goals and holding students to account in their learning
  • Mutual respect  genuine interest and care
  • Reflection  on-going review of the level of learning of students as well as our own performance

With an emphasis on high level collaboration and mutual support we are committed to success for every student in every class.

It is an exciting time – stimulating, challenging and rewarding.
