College Highlights

Highlights from 2011 are listed below:

  • The “Ready for Learning” focus has lead us as a College, sustaining high expectations of effort and achievement accross all year levels
  • Parents, students and teachers have established a new College vision, with its core values that relate to all areas of the College community
  • Student Leadership Inauguration Ceremony, where over 90 students have been recognised for their leadership positions in 2011
  • Year 7 Celebration Evening
  • Beau represented the school at the National Schools Constitutional Convention in Canberra
  • Successful College swimming, athletics and cross country sports were held
  • Jarryd, Jaimee and Alanna sucessfully made it through to Eastern Zone.  Alanna, winning gold in three events.
  • Alanna won three bronze medals in the state swimming finals
  • Year 8, Intermediate and Senior Baseball teams all won their group finals and progressed to Eastern Zone 
  • Year 8 Girls Tennis won and progressed to Eastern Zone
  • Intermediate Girls Volleyball won and progressed to Eastern Zone
  • Year 9 Netbook Program “Heathmont Connect” was launched in Term 2 and extended to Year 10 students in Term 4 

2010 was a great year for the College with many achievements.  The following list is a credit to the hard work of many staff and students.

  • Significant increase in Student Leadership Programs.
  • Harrison (College Captain 2010) was awarded a three month scholarship to travel to Germany in December as part of the Society for Australian-German Student Exchange.
  • A year 8 student placed first in the state at 13 year old cross country
  • The Wizard of Oz Production was strongly attended over three nights in August at Karralyka.  A cast and crew of 60 students did a splendid job performing and helping run the weekend
  • On August 18 Heathmont hosted a mock United Nations General Assembly, professionally run by the Australian United Nations Association.  Students from 10 schools converged at the school for a day long gathering.  Working in teams to represent countries from around the world and formulate solutions to the issue of refugees.  As a result of Heathmonts performance on the day we were invited to participate in the 2010 School State Constitutional Convention in October
  • Facilities upgrade including refurbishment of classrooms and lockers
