College Profile

Established as a dual campus college in 1993, Heathmont College successfully consolidated in April 2003 to a single campus College, current population of 923 students and 117 staff, with new and improved facilities for all learning areas, together with the development of its beautiful garden setting and excellent sporting facilities. Extensive range of physical education facilities and recreational spaces includes oval, three cricket nets, three tennis courts, two basketball courts, and sports centre with separate gymnasium. All classrooms and staffrooms have been refurbished, including painting and carpets.

From a technological and pedagogical standpoint, we have developed a comprehensive e-learning strategy encompassing ICT and multimedia which is informing our acquisition and introduction of a range of resources, including acquisition of electronic whiteboards to enrich the learning experience.

All teachers have wireless laptop computers. There are three fully equipped computer rooms, complemented by six pods, as well as a VCE Centre and Library ICT resource. At least half the classrooms have television and DVD equipment.  Several rooms have data projectors with further trolleys carrying laptop computers, digital still and video cameras and data projectors to enable widespread access to the delivery of learning through a multimedia environment. In 2007 we were engaged in a research project on the effective use of ipods in improving learning outcomes for students. This has stimulated further interest in the use of ICT in engaging students and improving learning.
