Silvan Foundation
The brainchild behind this scholarship is Wendy Smith, who started the program when she was a local MLC and she organises the funding from local businesses. Last year we had six Silvan candidates and they were presented with their scholarships in the Great Hall at Parliament House. The leader of the State opposition, Ted Bailleu, spoke to them of their ability to be noticed as people of promise, and each student had their photo taken with him congratulating them individually. Following the presentation the students and their families were given a guided tour of the houses of Parliament.
