Visual/Performing Arts
Our Arts Program covers a comprehensive range of experiences including music, drama, painting, sculpture, ceramics, visual communication, photography (including digital photography), media and dance aerobics. It is generally accepted by educationalists that a student’s involvement in the Visual and Performing Arts is an essential part of education by developing self-discipline, co-operative and social skills and a sensitivity to one’s environment. Since creativity is the cornerstone of our innovative Arts Program, students are encouraged to be ‘risk-takers’ in creating and displaying their artworks. Our skilled teachers inspire an exciting blend of imagination, rigour, discipline and flair in the students to support them in producing outstanding works.
Music
At Heathmont College, we have a thriving music department. Students who choose to have Instrumental Music lessons at school are all part of a Concert Band, Stage Band, Rock Group or other small Ensembles. The College Ensembles are involved in many concerts and tours each year, giving students an enriching and diverse musical experience.Students who learn an instrument also have the opportunity to complete their studies through to VCE, where the College offers both Group and Solo Performance studies. Year 7 students begin to prepare for VCE studies, learning innovatively through our recently developed Music Technology Centre. Through the use of computers, students develop their skills in composition, theory, aural and performance. At Heathmont College, we have a thriving music department.
