Students will complete a series of tasks as they walk through the local area. Starting at Heathmont College students will walk go to Heathmont Station completing a series of tasks en route. Students will then catch a train to Ringwood Station where they will complete a series of tasks in the Ringwood area walking distance from Ringwood station.
This will support students in their understanding of the skills required on these excursions for future trips into the city. Also, students will learn about their local environment, both man made and natural, and investigate the culture of the area. This will support classroom learning.
Year 12 students will partake in a rafting journey along Warrandyte River. This excursion links with the Year 12’s first SAC and will be used as evidence in understanding Area of Study 1 (Relationships with the Outdoor Environment).
Students and staff will be meeting at RINGWOOD STATION (on the Eastland side) at 8.45am sharp. The group will then catch the 364 bus to the Warrandyte Bridge carpark where we will meet ‘Warrandyte Adventure Tours’. Students will catch the 364 back to Ringwood Station and will be dismissed at 3pm. The year 8 outdoor adventure camp provides an opportunity for students to spend time in the natural environment, camping in tents, completing group activities to build belonging and teamwork, and participating in rafting, canoeing and bushwalking. This will take place at Lake Eildon and will be supported by specially trained outdoor education staff – Bindaree Outdoor Education.
Students will be required to set up their tents and camp on day one of the camp. The site of these camps will be the Eildon Caravan Park or Jerusalem Creek Campsite 7, depending on the rotation group each student is allocated to. All campsites are equipped with toilet facilities. The Eildon caravan park is further equipped with shower facilities and much more. Students will be rafting to the Breeze Caravan Park, bushwalking to the Jerusalem Creek Campsite and canoeing, completing group initiatives from the Eildon Caravan Park. Students will be required to pack up their tents and camping equipment at the conclusion of the stay.
Coaches will provide travel to and from the camp, and additional cars will be present, driven by teachers, for transportation in the case of extentuating circumstances and only with full permission of parents/guardians.
Camp attendees are encouraged to conduct a RAT on the morning of camp departure, and record a negative result, to come on the camp. If a student is feeling unwell on camp, parents will be contacted and they may be required to pick their child up.
In class students have created surveys on a city themed social issue and will be surveying members of the public to collect data that will inform their presentations that they will develop following this excursion. Students will likely conduct their surveys in Fed Square, Bourke Street Mall, Melbourne Central and Southern Cross Station.

This incursion directly relates to the Year 8 Humanities curriculum of Medieval Europe and Black Death. Students will rotate through 4 sessions. These sessions include Crime & Punishment, Games & Dance, Weapons & Armour as well as Tournament.
Students will attend Melbourne Legacy’s 91st ANZAC Commemoration Service for Students on the forecourt of the Shrine of Remembrance. They will learn about the impacts of war and how it has impacted Melbourne as a society. Students will also learn about the significance of the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne culture. Students will also walk through the grounds of the Shrine of Remembrance.
Afterwards, students will explore Alexandra Gardens, Royal Botanical Gardens, Birrarung Marr and Federation Square.

This excursion to Melbourne CBD will allow students to take a portfolio of photographs that explore the theme of black and white photography for their practical assessment for their Media Photography class.
Students will need to demonstrate their understanding of camera settings/techniques and the compositional rules. Students will develop their skills to explore a theme creatively and originally in small groups within a designated zone of the CBD. Students will have prepared planning material prior to the excursion stating the purpose, impact and desired outcome of their photoshoot.
Students need to have a valid Myki Card with credit on the card. Please ensure students bring their own mask to adhere to public transport guidelines.
