10 — CONTENTS 9LiFE Program A year long program for all Year 9 students created with the three following foci: • Wellbeing • Engagement • Attendance The program runs as a standalone subject and is timetabled for all students for a full day week (Wednesday) A selection of the following is offered. BODY AND MIND INCLUDING A RUBICON CAMP This module has an outdoor education focus and can include bike education and bike riding, bush walking, swimming, yoga/pilates, meditation/mindfulness, boxercise and a health day. COMMUNITY SERVICE This module looks at how students can help their local and greater communities. Activities may include study of charity organisations; The Big Issue, The Salvation Army, State Schools Relief and the RSPCA. Team volunteering exercise can occur at primary schools, aged care homes and other charities. WORK READY This module looks at pathways for students and a study of the workplace and may incorporate resume writing and job applications, mock job interviews, tours of tertiary education providers, factory tours, intergenerational computer training and first aid. LIVING IN THE 21ST CENTURY INCLUDING A 5-DAY CITY EXPERIENCE This module looks at issues for teenagers today and includes public transport, cyber safety, team building and resilience workshops, tolerance and diversity, sustainability alongwithguest speakers andexcursions. Programs are revised on an annual basis and may be subject to change.
