Student Dress Code Heathmont College is an inclusive environment that believes in having high expectations for our students in terms of uniform and appearance. Our College uniform reinforces student’s sense of pride in our school and represents us in a positive light to the wider community. We are proud of the uniform at Heathmont College. UNIFORM GENERAL NOTES • It is recommended that the dress, skirt and shorts are to be no higher than 5cm above the top of the knee. • All items of clothing should bear the student’s name. • Neatness and cleanliness are part of being properly dressed. • Leather shoes must be clean and worn at all times as this is a Health and Safety issue, particularly in practical classes for Science, Technology and Foods. No unbuckled T-Bar allowed. • Any fashion accessories must not be worn with the uniform – this includes excessive jewellery such as bangles/bracelets/necklaces/rings. • SOS tags and watches are permitted. • The only body piercings permitted are studs and small sleepers in the ears. • No facial jewellery, paraphernalia or adornments are permitted. • No responsibility can be taken for any items brought to College or worn by students ignoring these rules. • Make-up to be minimal and natural in colour tone. • Hair colour must be of “Natural Tones” and kept neat and tidy. No extreme hair styles, e.g. mohawks. Students must be clean shaven. • Aprons (provided by the College) MUST be worn in Technology lessons to protect uniforms. • The Sport uniform (as outlined above) must be worn to all PE and sport classes. Students are permitted to wear the Sport uniform for the entire school day that they have a scheduled PE class. Students are not permitted to wear the Sport uniform on days where they do not have a PE class. • A combination of Sport and standard uniform is not acceptable . • Students will be required to wear uniform on excursions unless otherwise advised.
