As part of their studies of the Holocaust in Core Humanities and/or WW2 in the World at War elective, all Year 10 students are invited to attend the Holocaust Museum participate in their ‘In Touch With Memory’ Program. The program allows students to personalise history and gain a deeper understanding of the Holocaust through individual lenses. By engaging in the Everybody Had a Name exhibition and investigating historical artefacts, students get to explore the lives of Melbourne-based Holocaust survivors. They will understand the relevance – and importance – of learning about the Holocaust in today’s world. They will be inspired by the survivors’ bravery, fairness, kindness, hope and perspective and we will reflect on our roles as individuals –and the impact of our choices on the people around us. The program:
Students will require a valid Myki card to travel by train. Students should arrive at 8am at Heathmont Station. All students must wear full school uniform and bring a small bag with drink bottle and snacks with them. Lunch can also be brought from home or purchased on Glen Huntley Road during the lunch break. Students will be supervised in Elsternwick Plaza Park by staff and will have the school mobile phone number should they need to contact staff. Students will be dismissed from Heathmont Station at approx. 2:35pm. |
