Description/Educative Purpose:

As Year 12 students approach a particularly demanding period in their final year of school, we acknowledge that they may be feeling tired and potentially unmotivated. The ‘Recharge’ excursions are designed to provide an opportunity for our students to reconnect with one another and recharge their motivation as they begin Unit 4.

On day 1 students will meet at Federation Estate in Ringwood where we will have a guest speaker who will share their insights on resilience, the value of support networks, and persevering through challenging times. Following morning tea students will activity participate in a workshop about coping strategies that they could implement during their remaining time at school as well as in their lives after school. At 12pm we will walk from Federation estate to Eastland where students can have lunch with their peers before heading up to Hoyts Cinemas to watch a movie together. Students will be dismissed at approximately 3:30pm from the cinemas at the completion of the film.

On day 2 VCE students will depart from Heathmont College and travel by to bus to Swinburne University’s Hawthorn Campus where they will have the opportunity to choose 2 workshops focused on a range of career options including Aviation, Law, Justice and Community Services. There will be an information session about Swinburne’s Early Entry program for 2026 and a tour of the campus. Morning tea will be provided. Staff and students will walk together to get lunch at the near-by cafés in Hawthorn. Alternatively, students can bring lunch from home. We will travel by bus back to Heathmont College to be dismissed at 3pm.
