Students will be visiting the University of Melbourne (Parkville Campus) on 11 June to complete a practical analysis workshop on Organic Chemistry. The Organic Analysis program will introduce students to the principles and applications of organic chemistry and structural analysis. Students will complete an analysis by collecting data from the 1H-NMR and IR instruments and simulated data from the remaining instruments. Lab coats and safety glasses will be provided for students. Those attending a session are required to wear closed-toe shoes that cover the top of the feet. For more details on the program, see: https://chemistry.unimelb.edu.au/engage/outreach-programs |
To travel into the Parkville Campus for the 9:00AM session, we will meet at Heathmont Station at 7:15AM for a morning roll before travelling in on the 7:33AM Belgrave Train to Melbourne Central, where we will catch a tram up to the Parkville Campus. After the session, we will travel back to Melbourne Central for lunch and then travel back to Ringwood Station as a group for approximately 2:00PM, where students will be dismissed. Heathmont College follows the guidelines and health, and safety measures recommended to manage the risks associated with Coronavirus (COVID-19).
