Description/Educative Purpose: A small group of VM students will go to Marlborough Primary School to help with their junior PMP (perceptual motor program) class throughout Term 2. Students will walk together from Heathmont College to Marlborough Primary. They will be accompanied by a Heathmont College staff member for the initial session where they will be introduced to the Marlborough Primary School teachers and students. They will attend future sessions unaccompanied. Students are expected to return to Heathmont College for their regular scheduled lesson by 10:15am. The purpose of this ongoing event is to provide students with an opportunity to volunteer and build relationships within our community. |

Students will complete a series of tasks as they walk through the local area. Starting at Heathmont College students will walk to HE Parker Reserve completing a series of tasks around the Dandenong Creek Trail and then onto Heathmont Station, also completing a series of tasks en route. This will support students in their understanding of the skills required on these excursions for future trips into the city. These skills include things like teamwork, cooperative decision making, use of Google maps, safety in public areas and many others. Also, students will learn about their local environment, both man made and natural, and investigate the culture of the area. |
Students are allowed to use their mobile phones on this excursion for navigation purposes, to take photos for the scavenger hunt and to make contact with staff via the school mobile phone as required. Students will spend time in small groups during this excursion and will have some structured independence from staff. Staff will walk the route as well and will be contactable throughout the excursion. Students will meet staff at regular check points along the route. Students will have the opportunity to purchase food/drink (with their own money) during this excursion. Students will be dismissed from Heathmont Station between 2:45pm and 3:00pm. |
The Heathmont College Trivia Night Fundraiser is an initiative to fundraising money for the Performing Arts Department. These funds will assist us to buy and install new air conditioners for the theatre and upgrade our technologies to purchase headset microphones. Students will assist in the organisation, set up and running of the event. There will also be fundraising games held on the night and a raffle or silent auction. This event is for students that wish to participate in the organisation of this event and the band. |
Tickets will be available on Trybooking for individuals, groups or tables – 10-12 guests per table. Depending on interest the event will be held in the Performing Arts Centre. |
During this session students will be guided through creating their VTAC account. They will also be shown how to apply for tertiary courses, Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) and scholarships that are available. To register with VTAC students will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI). |
This year, every Monday lunch time in the wellbeing lounge will be Mindfulness Mondays. This is a chance for students to unwind quietly with colouring, drawing and puzzles. The last ten minutes will include a mindfulness meditation to help reset before class.

Rainbows club is a safe space for LGBTQIA+ students to connect with peers and like-minded people. It is also a chance to find out about any relevant community events and resources.

Students will complete a self-guided tour of the Melbourne Immigration Museum. Students will complete a worksheet during their visit that they will need to submit as a Learning Task. Following our time at the Melbourne Immigration Museum, students will have some self-directed time where students will be required to stay in small groups and can experience aspects of the City of Melbourne. Students will be able to communicate with staff via mobile phone during this section of the excursion. |
Students need to meet at Heathmont Station by 8:35am (to catch an 8:51am train). Students will be dismissed when the train arrives at Ringwood Station (scheduled to arrive at 3:01pm). There is a small cost for this excursion as the Melbourne Immigration Museum charges schools a small fee for all school excursions. Students will have the opportunity to purchase food/drink (with their own money) during this excursion. |
9Life students will partake in a bushwalk along the Mullum Mullum trail. Students will put into practice the skills they have learnt, including: preparing for a hike, packing first aid kits, navigation and discovering the local flora and fauna. Students will need to wear their sports uniform. Students will also need to bring a hat, a drink bottle and snacks with them. Students will be meeting at Ringwood station at 9am and dismissed at Ringwood Station by 3pm. |
