Body Safety Australia – U Connect Program @ Heathmont College Grounds
Aug 13 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

The College has organised a full health day to help support our students as part of the Respectful Relationships initiative. Girls will undertake the “Body Safety Australia – U Connect” workshop, focusing on unpacking limiting gender expectations and peer pressure, learning the skills and tools needed to rise above the noise and start to uncover their unapologetic self.

Any student that identifies as a female is welcome to attend Body Safety Australia – U Connect and vice-versa for the Body Australia .

We are asking that each family contributes $30 to ensure students get the best workshops/resources possible. We will not exclude students whose families are unable to pay. However, we strongly encourage families to contribute the $30 so the day can proceed.

We had overwhelming positive reviews from last year’s workshops and know that each of your children will strongly benefit. Some feedback from last year:

Parent
I just wanted to give some feedback regarding the Man Cave Workshop that (my son) attended today.
(My son) really enjoyed it. He had lots of positive things to say.

Thanks to all those who were involved in making this incursion happen especially as it is a very much needed topic of conversation amongst youth and men. I really think it opened (my son’s) eyes to men’s mental health and enabled him and others to see the vulnerability of other boys.
He was also very impressed with the people that ran Man Cave and even said he would like to do something like that as a job.

So, thanks for allowing (my son) and the rest of Heathmont to experience this day and to hopefully keep those doors of communication amongst men and feelings open!

Staff
I was supervising the Body Safety Australia – U Connect for period 1 and 2 and think the incursion was incredible. Every student in the session was highly engaged and were quite open to talking about the pressures they face and the challenges of coping with them.
