    VCE Information Night – Supporting Our Students Together!

    We warmly invite all VCE parents and guardians to our VCE Information Night on Thursday, 26th February, in the Learning Centre from 5:30pm – 6:30pm.

    This evening is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school community, gain valuable insights into the VCE journey, and explore ways to support our students with curiosity, compassion, and encouragement. Our dedicated teachers will share key information about study expectations, important dates, and strategies to help students thrive in their senior years.

    Year 12 Camp – Anglsea @ Camp Araluen (Anglesea)
    Mar 2 – Mar 4 all-day

    The Year 12 Retreat is designed to help students connect as a cohort, prepare for their final year, and engage in wellbeing and career-focused activities. Over three days, students will take part in workshops, outdoor challenges, and reflective sessions run by both school staff and external providers.

    The camp will be be held at Camp Araluen (Anglesea) provides an opportunity for students to spend time in the natural environment, sleeping in dormitories and combining on-site activities and off-site activities for four nights. Student’s will be completing group activities to build belonging and teamwork, and participating in a range of activities including Surfing and Stand up paddleboarding.

    Coaches will provide travel to and from the camp, and additional cars will be present, driven by teachers, for transportation in the case of extenuating circumstances and only with full permission of parents/guardians.

    VCE/ VM – Grand Prix Excursion @ Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit (Innovation Hub)
    Mar 5 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

    Year 11 and 12 VCE VM students will visit the Grand Prix (GP) Innovation Hub on Thursday 5th March. Students will have the opportunity to view a range of exhibits, interactive activities and presentations on the science and technology behind F1 racing within the Innovation Hub.
    Exhibitors at the Hub will include the Australian Defence Force, Box Hill, Chisholm and Holmesglen Institutes, Motorsport Australia, Safe Transport Victoria and many others.

    This opportunity is being offered to Year 11 and 12 VCE VM students who do not have apprenticeships and would normally attend school on the Thursday. Planning and preparing for the event will provide students with the opportunity to practice applied Literacy, Numeracy, Workplace and Personal Development skills, as well as offering students the ability to explore career paths and interests.

    Year 10 OE: Orienteering Adventure @ Westerfolds Park
    Mar 6 @ 7:30 am – 11:20 am

    Year 10 OE students will put their skills to the test with an orienteering course at Westerfolds Park. Students will need to bring snacks, lunch, water bottle and a hat. Students will need to meet at Heathmont College by 7.30am and will return by recess to attend their P3 class.

    Year 10 SGI Semester 1 Creek Visit @ Dandenong Creek near Marlborough Rd
    Mar 6 @ 9:00 am – 11:00 am

    Students will study and evaluate the health of our local waterway, the Dandenong Creek. Students will learn about the impact of climate change on  freshwater ecology while completing a realistic scientific investigation including practical sampling of creek water and wildlife from a local site.

    In class time, students will participate in water testing and sampling, working to plan, conduct and present their own findings, developing their knowledge of scientific concepts and their scientific inquiry skills.
