Additional event details: Students will walk the short distance to Waterloo St Heathmont to Heathmont Tennis Club We understand that School start time is 9am however due to travelling to venues and arriving on time for the competition we need to leave Heathmont College between 8.50am and 9am Students are required to be at School between 8.30am and 8.40am to ensure they are marked as present and obtain any uniform required for the day and ensure a prompt leaving time. 9Life students will partake in a bushwalk along Mullum Mullum trail to Warrandyte River. Students will put into practice the skills they have learnt, including: preparing for a hike, packing first aid kits, navigation and discovering the local flora and fauna. Students will need to wear their sports uniform and will need to pack their own lunch. Students will also need to bring their own MYKI card as we will be catching the bus from Ringwood station to Schweroltz Cottage in Mitcham where we begin our hike. Students will be meeting at Ringwood Station at 9am and will be dismissed from Ringwood Station at 2.30pm. |

I CAN School® mentoring directly empowers Neurodivergent students with optimism, belonging, self-acceptance, pride and confidence. Students are invited to take up this opportunity to work with a mentor and build skills for communicating with others. Here is the 2025 unique registration link to pass on to the families whose young person you have in mind for the program (the cap is 16 students/group). |
This program offers a safe space where young people develop self-acceptance, belonging, optimism and confidence. The two stages of student progression are as follows: STAGE ONE – empowers Neurodivergent students with the basic outcome of the I CAN program: a positive neurodivergent identity. STAGE TWO – develops Neurodivergent students who are wanting to progress in the program and achieve outcomes around leadership and self-advocacy. Students are given opportunities to run activities during the session to help foster self-belief and empowerment.
