This year, every Monday lunch time in the wellbeing lounge will be Mindfulness Mondays. This is a chance for students to unwind quietly with colouring, drawing and puzzles. The last ten minutes will include a mindfulness meditation to help reset before class.
If you are looking for a quiet place on a Monday lunchtime, join us in the Wellbeing lounge for Mindfulness Mondays.

All Year 9 students will participate in a whole-day Geography fieldtrip to Yarra Valley ECOSS in Wesburn and Rainforest Gallery Tree-Top Walk in Warburton to consolidate their knowledge after our Food Security Unit and to gather fieldwork data for their Biomes unit. The Common Assessment Task for this unit will be a fieldwork report that will be completed using the data students collect on this day. The ability to collect data on the day of the fieldtrip is one of the key skills assessed in this unit.
Students will undertake structured, hands-on activities about sustainable food production with an education officer at ECOSS and collect geographical data about the biome of rainforests with Heathmont College staff at the Rainforest Gallery Tree-Top Walk. Travel will be by hired coach and students will be required to wear PE uniform and runners. Please note, if it’s due to rain on the day students will also need to bring a raincoat and/or umbrella. Students must also bring with them:
- a pen and pencil for recording data collected in the field
- a clipboard
- a phone with working camera (please note, phones will only be used for taking photos for data collection purposes and must otherwise be stored in bags as per normal Department of Education phone rules)
- a small backpack
- lunch, snacks and a water bottle (please note, there are no bins on site and all rubbish must be taken home)
We will be leaving promptly from Heathmont College at 9am and will return by 3pm. Students will use the data they collect on the day to complete their CAT for the Biomes unit – a fieldwork report. An alternative CAT will be required to be completed by any students absent on the day.
A copy of the Fieldwork Booklet including the behavioural expectations on the day will be forwarded to parents closer to the date.
We look forward to this being an interesting and enjoyable day of learning in the great outdoors!
