On Thursday August 28th, families are invited to connect with staff to reflect on the progress made so far across term 3. With junior students starting new electives for the semester, this conference offers the opportunity to explore what the students are learning in class, the behaviour they are exhibiting in the classroom space and set goals for growth.
Within the traditional VCE space, it is vital that students feel supported by people around them and parent/teacher interviews create an opportunity for the school to assist in the conversation as to how families can support them through the lead-up to end of year exams. Furthermore, this extends to discussions around the supports also available at school, outside of the classroom.
The first round of Progress Reports for the semester will be made available in Compass next Friday, August 22nd, at the end of the school day. The bookings system for Parent Teacher Interviews will go live after school on Friday August 22nd. To book a Parent Teacher Interview, use the conferences feature in Compass to book either a face to face meeting, or dial in virtually via the platform, WebEx.

The Year 12 Formal is a highly anticipated event on the social calendar and our students look forward to this opportunity to come together and celebrate as a year level as they work through their VCE studies. |
The ticket price includes a two-course meal. This event is strictly for Year 12 Heathmont College students. Students are not permitted to bring partners or friends from other schools or year levels. Providing consent and payment to this event does not automatically ensure that every student will be accepted to attend the Year 12 Formal. The College has the right to refuse any student entry from this event. |
The annual College Athletics Carnival is an important day on the Heathmont College calendar. |
Monday 1st September – College Athletics Monday 8th September – back up day in case of inclement weather In the event of inclement weather on Monday 1st September, parents will receive a communication that the event has been cancelled and that normal classes will be in operation. If this occurs, we have a backup day scheduled for Monday 8th September Students need to arrive at Proclamation Park by 9:00am. Students will be dismissed from Proclamation Park at the completion of the program and following a quick clean up. This will be sometime between 2:40pm and 3:00pm. Students will be the given the opportunity to sign up for a range of events during House Assemblies in the lead up to the Athletics Carnival. These are used to assist in the organisation of the day, but students are encouraged to compete in additional events if they choose to on the day. As well as competitive track and field events there will also be a number of novelty events. All students are expected to attend as this event is part of the Heathmont College calendar. Failure to do so will be regarded as an unexplained absence. Any student needing to leave the event early must have parent/guardian consent via Compass or alternatively be signed out at the venue by a parent/guardian. A canteen will be open on the day serving a limited range of hot food, snacks and drinks. Students are encouraged to bring their own food and drink. |
This year, every Monday lunch time in the wellbeing lounge will be Mindfulness Mondays. This is a chance for students to unwind quietly with colouring, drawing and puzzles. The last ten minutes will include a mindfulness meditation to help reset before class.

Blue Light Victoria’s program CORE, encourages engagement with positive role models and builds positive and trusting relationships between safe adults and young people. Fully funded, CORE is delivered in schools through weekly sessions that focus on social and emotional wellbeing, health and safe decision-making, and fostering meaningful community engagement. This workshop is for all students in Year 9 and aims to helps you learn more about Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain. It is broken into two parts an information session and a survey that survey checks if you feel more confident and knowledgeable after the session. The survey is anonymous and helps the Department of Education improve future programs. |
All students will be asked to sit through the information session; however, students have the choice to participate in the survey. Information for the students (from the Department of Education). Information regarding the session will be emailed to the parents and carers prior to the session. 1. Consent: This information will help you understand survey so you can decide if you want to take part.
2. Purpose: The session helps you learn more about Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain, and the survey checks if you feel more confident and knowledgeable after the session. The survey is anonymous and helps the Department of Education improve future programs.
3. Funding: This program is fully funded by the Department of Education.
4. Procedures After the session, you can choose to take a short, anonymous survey, either online or on paper. The survey will ask only close ended questions about whether or not your knowledge of Menstrual Health and Pelvic Pain and where to seek help improved after the session. Your answers will be stored securely on either SurveyMonkey or our SharePoint folder and de-identified data shared with the Department of Education. It will be deleted/destroyed from SHV systems after being shared with the Department. You don’t have to do the survey, and you can stop at any time. For online surveys, you’ll access the survey through a SurveyMonkey link, and your answers will be stored securely on the SurveyMonkey website. For paper surveys, your answers will be scanned into a protected SharePoint folder Sexual Health Victoria. Once scanned, the paper copies will be shredded and destroyed. The de-identified information collected will be shared with the Department of Education to help improve future programs. Reports will be created twice a year, and once the information is used, it will be deleted by SHV. You don’t have to do the survey if you don’t want to, and there will be no consequences if you choose not to participate.
5. Risks and Benefits The Department of Education uses the survey results to make sure the program is working well and to help improve other programs in the future. There isn’t a lot of research yet about how best to teach these topics in schools, so our program will help create more knowledge on what works best for students. The session should not cause any physical or emotional discomfort. It’s meant to reduce any embarrassment and help everyone understand these topics better. If at any point you feel uncomfortable, there will be teachers and staff available to help, and the educators from Sexual Health Victoria will also be there after the session if you have any questions. The survey doesn’t ask personal or sensitive questions; it just checks if you feel more confident and knowledgeable after the session. If you feel uncomfortable, you can choose not to complete the survey or stop at any time.
6. Privacy, Confidentiality and Disclosure of Information SHV has privacy obligations set out under the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 (the Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (the APPs) as well as the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Victoria), Health Records Act (Victoria) 2001 and Health Privacy Principles as a Victorian health service provider. These laws govern how SHV collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information, and how you can access or correct your information. We take our privacy policies very seriously. This is why all surveys will be anonymous and no individual information collected of stored.
7. Voluntary Participation There is no obligation for students to participate in the program. If you wish to withdraw from the session, you can absolutely do so.
