Enthusiastic and talented Geography (Humanities) students in all year levels 7-12 are invited to challenge themselves and participate in this optional competition – the 2025 Australian Geography Competition. Students will practice their geographical skills by completing multiple-choice and coze questions in an online test for 30 minutes in May. Year 7 and 8 students complete 30 questions, all other students complete 40 questions. All participating students will receive a certificate and results sheet. Students in Years 7-10 are eligible to win prizes. The competition will cost $5 per student to compete; all students competing will require a laptop to participate. Students will be withdrawn from a class to participate in this competition. Mrs Graham, the Humanities Curriculum Area Leader, will supervise the students participating in the competition. Year 10 students will be utilising the outdoor environment in Phillip Island to gain understanding of topics covered across semester 1. This excursion will relate to the following topics:
Students will be required to meet at Heathmont College at 8am and will return by 5pm. Students have been asked to wear appropriate clothing for an OE trip (keep in mind comfort, the weather conditions and the activity).
