Heathmont College Sports Academy is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for students to explore what our program has to offer. We are offering a “Spot Coach Taster Program” again this term, designed for students interested in participating in the following sports:
- Athletics
- Soccer
- Baseball
- Gymnastics
- Mountain Biking
- AFL/ AFLW
- Basketball
Throughout Term 4, our professional Spot Coaches will work closely with each athlete, providing personalised coaching and support tailored to their specific needs in their chosen sport.
The Spot Taster Program will run during weeks 2-8 on a fortnightly basis. There are 3 sessions per week (excluding public holidays/ curriculum days) the schedule is as follows:
- Monday: 7:30am – 9:00am
- Tuesday: 7:30am – 9:00am
- Thursday: 3:15pm – 4:30pm
If you’re a student athlete already participating in one of the above sports outside of school, this is a great opportunity to benefit from professional coaching, conveniently available right at school.
There is a limit of 15 positions per sport.
This year, every Monday lunch time in the wellbeing lounge will be Mindfulness Mondays. This is a chance for students to unwind quietly with colouring, drawing and puzzles. The last ten minutes will include a mindfulness meditation to help reset before class.

Rainbows club is back again this year in A5 every Tuesday lunch time! All members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies are welcome!
Rainbows club is a safe space for LGBTQIA+ students to connect with peers and like-minded people. It is also a chance to find out about any relevant community events and resources.
Join Mel and Yvette every Tuesday lunch time in A5.
Students will take part in a Sea Kayaking session in Safety Beach followed by a conservation activity workshop with a local volunteer friends group at Balcombe estuary in Mount Martha. Students will put into practice the skills they have learnt around taking care of the environment, navigation, preparing for an outdoor adventure in the water and taking part in a recreational activity. Students will be travelling via bus and will be meeting at Heathmont College at 7.45am and will be dismissed from Heathmont College at 3.30pm. |
Students will be taken on a guided tour of the Shrine of Remembrance. They will learn about the impacts of war and how it has impacted Melbourne as a society. Students will also learn about the significance of the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne culture. Following this, students will have the opportunity to see additional aspects of the Shrine of Remembrance both inside and outside. Following our time at the Shrine of Remembrance, students will have some self-directed time where they will be required to stay in small groups and can experience aspects of the City of Melbourne. Students will be able to communicate with staff via mobile phone during this section of the excursion. |
Students will need their own Myki card to catch the train. Students MUST travel tap on and students seen fare evading will likely be banned from future city excursions. Students are encouraged to bring their own food for this excursion as food/drink options will be limited. Students will be dismissed when the train arrives at Ringwood Station (scheduled to arrive at 3:01pm). |
Year 11 students will participate in a workshop run by ‘Elephant Ed’ on Consent Education. This was take place at school and during one of their Career classes. Elephant Ed send young, relatable and highly trained facilitators to deliver fun and engaging sex education workshops. Their evidence-based, age-appropriate workshops are tried and tested across all relevant age groups and are mapped to State and National curriculum guidelines. Every year, they empower tens of thousands of young people to make informed, positive and safe decisions about sexuality, relationships and growing up. The Department of Education mandates that all students from Years 7-12 undertake this education and schools do not need to seek parental consent.
