Ringwood RSL Sub Branch has extended the invitation to representatives of Heathmont College student leadership team to participate in the Annual ANZAC march on 25th March 2025.
All students are invited/ welcome to attend, however this in not compulsory. All student leaders are encouraged to attend, however not expected.
Students are to wear school uniform and comfortable shoes. Students to meet at 5:20am at the Memorial Clock Tower, for the Dawn Service to commence at 5.30am.
School Captains and Prefects will be invited to a breakfast with Ms Sandford, Mrs Dykman and Ms Constance afterward at Eastland. Students will be dismissed after the ANZAC service, unless a part of the senior student leadership team attending breakfast.
On Monday 28 April, we will be holding a whole school assembly to recognise the College captains and leaders for 2025. Your child will be announced at the assembly, and we would like to welcome you to attend. |

Students studying VCE Media this year will have the opportunity to view the work and creative process of 2023’s top VCE students. Students will meet at Heathmont Station at 8:00AM ready to catch the 8:24AM train to Flinders Street Station. Media students will then go to ACME to attend the 9:30 session of Top Screens, while the Art and VIsCom students attend the gallery and other Art exhibits. At approx. 11:00AM, all students will meet up again at Federation Square and walk to the Melbourne Museumto attend the Top Designs exhibit. (students will have an opportunity to get lunch along the way). Students will then be dismissed from Parliament Station at approx. 2:30pm |

The annual College Cross Country is an important day on the Heathmont College calendar. |
Students will complete classes until lunchtime followed by the College Cross Country in the afternoon. This is a whole school event and all students are expected to participate as a runner or walker. Students that do not have parental consent to leave the school grounds will still participate in the event but will participate in a modified activity within the school grounds. There is no cost associated with this event. |

Students will take part in a Species Interactions in the Intertidal Ecosystem at Rickett’s point combined with the Moysey walk and lunch at Banksia Reserve |
Additional event details: Students will travel by bus to Rickett’s Point Marine Sanctuary and participate in a 2 hour educational presentation Species Interactions in the Intertidal Ecosystem. Students will not be swimming however will be near water. Appropriate footwear is recommended. Bathers are not required. Students will then do a 30 min walk to Moysey Garden traveling along the Moysey Walk, from here we will continue for a 20 min walk onto Banksia Reserve for lunch and some free time. Students will travel by bus back to Heathmont College arriving approximately 2.50pm Students are advised to bring lunch and drinks especially water as there is no guarantee that food facilities will be available on the day. Students will not be able to use their mobile phone during the day as per school rules and Government regulations. ****LATE CONSENT/PAYMENT CANNOT BE ACCEPTED**** |
Students will attend the Shrine of Remembrance and participate in a program called ‘ANZAC and After’. In this special program that explores the ANZAC story and spirit, students will learn about life at the Front for Australian soldiers and nurses during the First World War. Education staff and volunteers will use real and replica objects from the era to tell stories of Victorian service and sacrifice. Following this students will have the opportunity to see additional aspects of the Shrine of Remembrance both inside and outside. After our time at the Shrine of Remembrance, students will have some time in and around Melbourne Central to explore and enjoy time in small groups. |
Students will need their own Myki card to catch the train. Students MUST travel tap on and students seen fare evading will likely be banned from future city excursions. Students are encouraged to bring their own food for this excursion as food/drink options will be limited. Students will be dismissed when the train arrives at Ringwood Station (scheduled to arrive at 3:01pm). |
The VCE and Careers Expo is one of Australia’s biggest education events. Students can attend seminars on VCE subjects including tertiary courses, career & employment opportunities, apprenticeships, internships, gap years and study advice. Exhibitors include providers of VCE resources, universities, TAFE, training colleges and employers. Students will make their own way the city to meet at The Polly Woodside next to the Convention Centre at 9:30am. Students will then be dismissed at 2pm from the Convention Centre. Staff will be on the 8:24am train departing from Heathmont station heading to Southern Cross for those wanting to travel with someone. |

As part of the Flexible Learning Option (FLO) Program, students who are currently enrolled, or selected students who have been involved in the FLO program in the past will take part in the Blue EDGE Program on site once a week over an 8-week period. Blue EDGE (Educate, Develop, Grow, Empower) is a popular fitness based, experiential learning program run by Blue Light Victoria (BLV), in partnership with police. The program combines physical training, team building, personal growth and development, and positive connections to community. Delivered over 8 two-hour sessions, Blue EDGE includes three key components:
Workshop topics address current issues that affect young people, build skills, and creates opportunities for interesting conversations and fun interactive experiences. Topics include communication, values and strengths, assumptions and stereotypes, mental health and wellbeing, accessing supports, healthy decision making, alcohol and other drugs, and safety within the community. These are delivered through small and large group creative activities and discussions.
The aim of having a cross-section of young people is to promote positive behaviours and attitudes, increase developing skills, build self-awareness, and instill a positive mind-set towards your future. Specifics

Year 10 Outdoor Education students will complete a water safety lesson in conjunction with their swimming competency test in preparation for offsite excursions during term 2.
Students will be meeting at their designated classroom at the beginning of period 3 (11.20am), and will then walk as a class to Aquanation. Students will finish at Aquanation by 1:30pm and will walk back to school. Students will be back for their regular period 5 timetable. Student’s will be out of class for a double Outdoor Ed class and therefore will not have any of their other classes impacted. Students are asked to bring their bathers, a towel, water bottle and snacks. Students will have the opportunity to purchase food at the Aquanation cafe if they wish. |
