As Year 12 students approach a particularly demanding period in their final year of school, we acknowledge that they may be feeling tired and potentially unmotivated. The ‘Recharge’ excursions are designed to provide an opportunity for our students to reconnect with one another and recharge their motivation as they begin Unit 4.
On day 1 students will meet at Federation Estate in Ringwood where we will have a guest speaker who will share their insights on resilience, the value of support networks, and persevering through challenging times. Following morning tea students will activity participate in a workshop about coping strategies that they could implement during their remaining time at school as well as in their lives after school. At 12:00pm we will walk from Federation estate to Eastland where students can have lunch with their peers before heading up to Hoyts Cinemas to watch a movie together. Students will be dismissed at approximately 3:30pm from the cinemas at the completion of the film.

Students studying year 12 Theatre Studies will have the opportunity to see the production of ‘1984’ by George Orwell live in theatre. Year 12 students must see this as part of Unit 4 Area of Study 3. Year 12’s will be working through the area of study by looking at the script, performance and analyse the production. Students will be provided with a great opportunity to analyse professional theatre work at the top level. |

The students will be meeting at the theatre at 6:30pm. Students will be dismissed form the theatre at the conclusion of the show. Students wishing to purchase a program or other merchandise will need to be at the theatre prior to 6:30pm. Analysing and evaluating a performance: 1984 In this area of study, students focus on the analysis and evaluation of the acting, direction and design in a performance of a production selected from the prescribed VCE Theatre Studies Playlist. Students attend a production selected from the playlist. They study the theatre style(s) evident in the performance and analyse and evaluate how actor(s), director(s) and designer(s) interpret the script for an audience. They consider the interrelationships between acting, direction and design in the performance. In doing so, students consider character(s) in the play, how the actor(s) interpreted them on stage and the contribution of the director(s) and designer(s) to the interpretation and intended meaning(s). They study acting skills used by the actor(s) to portray character(s) to convey the intended meanings of the play and the establishment, maintenance and/or manipulation of the actor–audience relationship. Students’ understanding of the techniques being used by the actor(s), director(s) and designer(s) is informed by techniques they used to interpret the monologue they selected for Area of Study 1. They refine their understanding of the terminology associated with analysing and evaluating theatre performances. |
Students from both school’s study Indonesian language. Our students have been invited to work with the primary school students to consolidate their language learning and also demonstrate Year 7 oral literacy standards. Our students will be teaching Indonesian language and culture to the primary school students. They will teach the Angklung, dance, animals and read travel brochures to Bali that they have created themselves. Besides providing students with engaging opportunities to apply their Indonesian language skills, this visit also fosters closer collaboration between primary and high school students, including enabling smooth transition from primary to secondary schools. |

Additional event details: Students will travel by bus to the venue We understand that School start time is 9am however due to travelling to venues and arriving on time for the competition we need to leave Heathmont College between 8.50am and 9am Students are required to be at School between 8.30am and 8.40am to ensure they are marked as present and obtain any uniform required for the day and ensure a prompt leaving time. Students are advised to bring lunch and drinks as there is no guarantee that canteen facilities will be available on the day. Please ensure you are prepared for all weather conditions Students may be required to attend period 5 classes, depending on the fixture and time of return to Heathmont College.
